The Pixies are one of those few bands that don’t need and shouldn’t have a greatest hits. There are just too many damn good songs on each album. Before I even saw the recently made Top Ten List I suspected that the usual 6 would be on there: Gigantic, Where is My Mind?, Wave of Mutilation, Here Comes Your Man, Monkey Gone To Heaven, and Velouria. All great songs, far better songs than most all bands could make. Best of the Pixies? Not even close. These songs are “crowd pleasers.” Songs our parents might like too. (My dad used to really like “Here Comes Your Man.”) Poppy and fun, but not too controversial or crazy.
